NIC FM Services Group Accelerates Its Sustainability Journey with Major Fleet Investment

NIC FM Services Group's new fleet of Geely Starray EM-i hybrid vehicles lined up, promoting lower emissions, cleaner future, responsible business and driving change

NIC FM Services Group has taken another significant step towards a lower-carbon future with the introduction of more than 100 Geely Starray EM-i Super Hybrid vehicles into its national management fleet.

The investment forms part of the Group’s ongoing commitment to Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles and its ambition to continually reduce the environmental impact of its operations while delivering exceptional service to customers across the UK.

As one of the country’s leading facilities management providers, NIC recognises that sustainability is not simply a corporate objective, it’s a responsibility. Every operational decision presents an opportunity to create positive change, and the transition to the Geely Starray EM-i demonstrates how innovation and environmental stewardship can go hand in hand.

The advanced plug-in hybrid technology offers significantly lower CO₂ emissions and improved fuel efficiency compared with traditional petrol and diesel vehicles, enabling NIC to reduce fuel consumption, lower fleet emissions and move closer to its long-term net zero ambitions. Alongside the environmental benefits, the new vehicles provide managers with a comfortable, technology-rich and practical solution for the extensive travel required to support customers nationwide.

Built Around Performance, Efficiency and Sustainability

Selecting the right vehicle was about far more than choosing a new company car. The process focused on finding a solution that balanced operational performance, whole-life value and sustainability, while ensuring colleagues have the reliability and comfort they need to deliver outstanding service every day.

Rick Selway, Fleet Manager at NIC FM Services Group, said:

“When we reviewed our fleet requirements, it was important that we selected a vehicle that met the needs of our managers while supporting the Group’s wider sustainability ambitions. The Geely Starray EM-i stood out because it delivers an excellent balance of efficiency, comfort, technology and practicality for colleagues who spend a significant amount of time on the road. With outstanding fuel economy, low emissions and the flexibility of plug-in hybrid technology, it enables us to reduce our environmental impact without compromising on reliability or performance. Just as importantly, it offers excellent value over its whole life, helping us manage operating costs while providing our managers with a high-quality vehicle that reflects the standards and professionalism of the NIC brand. We believe it’s the right choice for both our people and our business as we continue to build a smarter, more sustainable fleet.”

Investing Today for Tomorrow

The introduction of the new fleet is another milestone in NIC’s wider sustainability strategy. By embracing cleaner vehicle technology, the Group is reinforcing its commitment to responsible business practices while helping customers achieve their own environmental objectives through a more sustainable supply chain.

Ken Atherton, Chief Operating Officer at NIC FM Services Group, said:

“At NIC, we’re committed to making decisions that deliver long-term value for our clients, our colleagues and the environment. Transitioning our management fleet to the Geely Starray EM-i is about far more than replacing vehicles, it’s about investing in a more sustainable future for our business. By significantly reducing our fleet emissions while improving operational efficiency, we’re taking another meaningful step towards achieving our ESG commitments and supporting our journey to net zero. As one of the UK’s leading facilities management providers, we recognise that every operational decision has an environmental impact, and we’re proud to be embracing technologies that enable us to reduce that impact while continuing to deliver outstanding service to our customers.”

As sustainability continues to shape procurement decisions across both the public and private sectors, organisations are increasingly seeking partners that can demonstrate measurable environmental progress as well as operational excellence.

NIC’s investment in its fleet is a clear example of turning ambition into action. It reflects a business that is continually evolving, investing in innovation and making responsible decisions that benefit customers, colleagues and communities alike.

For our customers, it means partnering with a facilities management provider that is committed to reducing its environmental impact without compromising on service quality. For prospective customers, it provides further evidence that sustainability is embedded into the way NIC operates, not as an aspiration, but as a practical commitment delivered through meaningful investment. Every journey made by our new fleet supports our wider vision of delivering smarter, more sustainable facilities management across the UK.
